Crafty mama

A few bows I made during the girls nap time.

My first two attempts at car seat covers.

But most of all...

Dallas Aquarium

The one good thing about Brooklyn's school starting a week later than everyone else is that we got to enjoy one last trip to the aquarium, that was other wise deserted. Even Sweet little McKenna enjoyed the fish kicking, cooing and laughing each time we would lift her up to see the fish. All Brooke cared about were the frogs and sharks searching for and pointing them all out! Twice we were even asked if we wanted our family picture taken *that never happens* I love it.

Trying to recreate a picture I took years ago with Kevin and Brooklyn

On Monday the 20th McKenna's two bottom teeth came through. Not that you can see the two tiny little white buds under all that drool ;)

Can you see those little teeth poking through?

Pulling Up

On Friday the 10th I heard squeaking coming from McKenna's bedroom, thinking it was Brooklyn jumping in her crib I rushed in there. Instead of finding Brooklyn, I found McKenna bouncing and peeking over the side smiling at me, obviously very happy with herself.

Then on Monday while playing with Brooklyn, I watched McKenna slowly pull herself up to her feet!! I am still in shock my six month old should not be doing these things!

Circus 2012

This year Kevin surprised us with tickets to the circus, the circus was on my bucket list of things to do with the girls, Brooklyn couldn't hardly wait. Brooklyn talked about it for the entire week, any time we would leave the house " are we going to the circus?" Finally Saturday came and after dropping McKenna off at Nana's we were on our way.

Brooklyn LOVED it from start to Finnish! She would laugh, clap, ooh and aah right along with the crowd. When the music would play Brooklyn would jump out of her seat and dance. Her favorite parts were seeing the elephants and horses of course, but to my surprise she really loved the clowns too. When the tight rope walkers came out Brooklyn was so concerned that they would fall that she made Kevin and I sit very still and be quiet. HA!

Almost there. (Brooklyn has been really big on having ballerina hair lately)

Brooklyn's favorite clown act "How many clowns does it take to change a light bulb"

Brooklyn called this the donut bike.

Picking out her snow cone, of course she went with the elephant.

Clapping for the tigers and getting excited for the elephants!

Brooke's oh my goodness face

Half Birthday Party

On Wednesday I hosted a half birthday play date at my house for McKenna and her many friends that are turning six months old this month.
Along with five six month old babies, we also had six three year olds. I love that both my girls had friends over to play with but man I was warn out by the end of the day ;)

The set up

The babies, I really slacked on taking pictures, but in my defense I had a house full!

The best of several tries to get everyone.

While the mamas and babies hung out the toddlers took over! lol

Story time.

They are all so sweet? Maybe they will take a nap?

Err maybe not...

Definitely not ha!

Baby Food Making

I have been making McKennas food for a while now and it's so easy, I love that its good for her and it is a real joy to watch your little one enjoy the food you make. I want others to know how easy it is so as I learn i'll share what works with you.

In this picture I have; Squash, pumpkin, bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans and peas, For McKenna that is about 2 1/2 months worth all in an hour!

All I did..

BUTTERNUT SQUASH introduce at 4-6 mo:
cut the butternut squash in half - lengthwise.
Lay butternut squash flat down in a baking dish with about 1-2 inches of water.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 40 minutes or until shell/skin looks puckery and turns a darker tan
Then scoup out the seeds and puree

PUMPKIN introduce at 6-8 mo:
Because it is not in season I had to buy a canned version. when you buy caned pumpkin watch that it is not pumpkin pie mix which can contain sugars, starches and other additives. I then just blended up the pumpkin.

Bananas introduce at 4-6 mo:
I simply peeled and blended up the bananas.

SWEET POTATOES introduce at 4mo:
Wash and poke holes in sweet potato with fork do not peel for baking/microwaving.
Place in a 400 degree oven and bake for 30-60 minutes or until soft
Remove skins by slitting the sweet potato lengthwise when cooled then scoop out the "meat".
puree to desired consistency.

GREEN BEANS introduce at 4-6 mo:
pound of fresh green beans
Clean & snap green beans .Skip if using frozen,(I used frozen.)
 Steam until tender then puree

PEAS introduce at 6-8 months:
If using frozen Peas, cook according to package directions. ( I used frozen)
Place fresh peas into a steamer basket in a pan with a just enough water to slightly show through in the basket.
Steam until very tender then puree

AVOCADO introduce at 4-6 mo:
Peel and de-pit a ripe avocado
Cut “meat” out and mash with a fork
