Cradle cap

I started noticing that McKenna had flaky dry skin on her head in march, but didn't think much of it. At her checkup appointment for her ear infection McKenna's doctor noticed it and told me that she had a mild case of cradle cap.

It is caused by overactive sebaceous glands. It is not contagious it usually does not irritate infants.

As of right now its still mild and we are treating it by, washing her hair more often (to get rid of the extra oils) and by using an oil treatment. We use jojoba oil, all we do is rub it in to her scalp and wait 10 minuets and comb out her hair to loosen the dead skin then wash it out. I notice a dramatic difference after the very first treatment and McKenna LOVES having her hair brushed.

It usually clears up at around 6-12 months.

  1. I used olive oil to get rid of Max's! It worked great. I also use the Mustela shampoo everyday still. Worth the money for sure!
